Spring Ridge Academy

How We're Different

 Welcome

There are multiple facets to the Spring Ridge Academy program, and each has been designed to work with the others to create success.

There are many innovative, creative, and unique aspects to our program. They include:

Writing Across the Curriculum

Writing is a fundamental skill that must be mastered. Students write in many contexts, both academic and non-academic.

Community Interaction

Spring Ridge Academy students, as they progress through the program, take part in both volunteer and paid community jobs. These activities are a crucial testing ground for the use of newly-acquired skills, and also serve as a constant reminder that everyone, everywhere, is part of a larger community in which and to which they have responsibilities.

Checkbook Accountability

Each student has her own account at an internal Academy bank. Funds from the $50 per month, sponsor-supplied stipend are drawn by Spring Ridge check to pay for purchases of personal items at the Academy commissary as well as for other personal and activity expenditures. At the end of each month, the student receives a statement and must balance her checkbook. A copy of the statement goes to the student's parents or other sponsor, providing accountability.

Formal Meals

On at least a weekly basis, a dress-up-for-dinner formal meal provides students an opportunity to learn important social skills, and to understand what behavior is expected in such a setting.

Student Government

Through the student government experience, each person has the opportunity to take part in self-governance and learn about the importance, responsibility, and limits that attach to the exercise of power.

Dress

Spring Ridge Academy has a modular uniform, which permits each student some flexibility in her dress while creating a consistent and neat appearance that promotes an attitude that we are all working together creating success.
